Ferry trips to SihanoukVille, Cambodia’s Islands of Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem.
For most people (except wealthy Chinese gamblers), the SihanoukVille Tourist Port is the only part of SihanoukVille that they will visit.
The Tourist Port is part of the SihanoukVille Autonomous Port, Cambodia’s main international port and cruise ship port. It’s located next to Victory Beach in SihanoukVille.
Fast ferries from 7:45am to 5pm go out to the Islands and back. Buses arrive at the Port between 8am and 5pm. And you can now go to Kampot directly from the Islands.
Most all buses from throughout Cambodia that come to SihanoukVille arrive and depart directly from the Tourist Port. About 2 hours by bus from Kampot, and 2 to 2.5 hours from Phnom Penh.
Even the only train station in SihanoukVille is just behind the Port. 2 hours on the train from Kampot, and 6+ hours by train from Phnom Penh (scenic, but slow.)
You can also get to the Port from the SihanoukVille Airport in about 20 minutes by taxi or tuk-tuk.
Most people travel by road from Phnom Penh to the SihanoukVille Port, and some by train or bus from Kampot and Kep.
6 boat companies make up the bulk of the trips to the islands. There are also private charters that go to the Islands.
The Port is open from 6:30am to 3am. There’s a bar or two at the Port as well (at least at night). 7-Eleven is open all the time. Snacks. Food. Coffee, drinks, beer.
There are also public bathrooms. Better to use them at the Port than on the ferry. (some ferries don’t have bathrooms.)
A few restaurants and food shops (even a 7-Eleven) are at the Port. Covered waiting areas for the ships, clean public bathrooms, and offices for all the ferry companies, several travel agencies (some are right out in front of the Port), and a few offices with VIP waiting lounges for the resorts on the Islands.
In Sihanoukville and not at the Port already? Call a tuk-tuk by using ride-hailing apps like Grab or PassApp. Quick, easy, cheap.
Daytime, you can just hang at the Port. A bar, restaurants and 7-Eleven. And lots of good people watching.
The Port closes at 3am. Probably want to call a tuk-tuk then to get home.
